Josh is a planner and GIS specialist with ten years of professional experience in the consulting and nonprofit sectors, and a master’s degree in urban and regional planning. His areas of expertise and interest include research and writing, mapping, data management, GIS and spatial analysis, and converting complex data into graphics and narratives that are easily accessible to a variety of audiences. Telling stories through maps and data is at the core of his work.
Josh is the data lead for the 21 Elements Collaborative. In partnership with an economic modeling consulting firm, he developed the sites scenario analysis, which involved modeling and testing over 200 different land use change scenarios for jurisdictions in San Mateo County to understand their impacts on market housing production. Josh has also contributed to multiple ADU projects including Humboldt ADU and Bakersfield Affordable ADU and is providing GIS mapping and analysis support to the Pacific Grove Housing Element Update.
As an avid cyclist, Josh is firmly committed to cultivating people-centric communities through engagement, smart land use decisions, investments in parks, trails, and open space, and prioritizing multi-modal transportation. He believes that maps provide a unique opportunity to connect with stakeholders and community members. Before joining Community Planning Collaborative, Josh was an associate planner at Eisen | Letunic, a transportation, environmental and urban planning firm based in Berkeley, CA, and a planning and special projects associate at the High Line Canal Conservancy, a nonprofit organization leading planning and management effort a 71 mile urban greenway in Denver, CO.
