ADU Calculators
As part of our suite of innovative tools and products for ADU programs, Community Planning Collaborative has pioneered a sophisticated and easy-to-use online calculator that helps homeowners estimate the potential costs and financial benefits of building an ADU. The Calculator allows homeowners to more effectively plan their ADU project and think through their return on investment (ROI). Homeowners can estimate development costs, taxes, rents, and payback periods based on where they live and the type of ADU they hope to build. We have customized the Calculator for over 11 counties and cities in California including Alameda, Marin, Napa, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Sonoma, and more listed below. We are continuing to add jurisdictions across the state. National and international partners have recognized the power of the Calculator and are working to emulate or incorporate it.
Drawing off the success of the initial launch of the Calculator, we've made user improvements including foreign language support, additional ADU construction types, profiles and reports for homeowners, and improved platforms for cities and counties to add and adjust their local input data
